Introduction

Horizontal machining centers that provide heavy-duty cutting capabilities for titanium, Inconel and other tough-to-cut materials used for aerospace parts and industrial machinery parts.

STRUCTURE

Three-point support system
With the three-point support system, the A99E can be installed quickly if the shop floor has a certain level of rigidity. This system also allows the machine to be moved quickly if the production layout is changed, and it eliminates the need for leveling maintenance.

Ball screw cooling
High-speed movement during long hours of operation causes the ball screws to generate heat that can affect accuracy and machining performance. On the A99E, cooling oil controlled to the bed temperature is circulated to the nuts and through the hollow ball screws to suppress this heat generation.

 
The spindle features an integrated construction with the rotor of the drive motor for reduced vibration during high-speed operation and faster acceleration/deceleration. Minimal spindle vibration at high operating speeds enhances machined surface quality and extends tool life. Moreover, the spindle accelerates swiftly to its top speed in just 2.0 seconds to shorten non-cutting time substantially.

MOTION
CONTROL

Super GI.4 control further enhances the high-speed performance of Makino’s machining centers.

It shortens machining times in high-definition milling of dies and molds by 15% on average and by up to 30%.

Super GI.4 displays its maximum effectiveness especially when machining at high feedrates resulting from higher spindle speeds.

Operating ease has been enhanced by adopting Windows-like display screens and a touch-panel.

A “data center function” is also provided as a standard feature for centralized management of various types of data. Improved network functionality makes it possible to transfer and edit files in a PC-like manner.

CHIP MANAGEMENT

Chip Removal
Because the interior of the machining chamber is constructed with sharply slanted and vertical panels, chips and coolant are easily flushed into the center chip trough positioned directly under the table for quick evacuation from the machine. A filtration unit built into the lift-up chip conveyor ensures a constant supply of clean coolant.

 

An 8-nozzle coolant supply device for the spindle, overhead shower coolant system, center chip trough and base coolant, and a lift-up chip conveyor are all standard features for achieving superior surface quality in continuous machining.
